gPROMS® Basics & Flowsheeting (1-day)

This is a one-day introductory "taster" training course, aimed at engineers who are considering using gPROMS to solve design and operational problems for batch and continuous processes.

The course differs from the three-day Introduction to gPROMS course in the depth of training and level of hands-on content.

Content

Through a combination of small-group tutoring and hands-on problem solving sessions you will:

  • Gain an overview of the capabilities and functionality of the gPROMS environment
  • Learn how to use gPROMS effectively to construct a flowsheet model for dynamic simulation and operational studies

Topics covered include:

  • Overview and basic functionalities of gPROMS ModelBuilder GUI
  • Creating a flowsheet in gPROMS and specifying unit specifications
  • The gPROMS Process Model Library (PML)
  • Executing a simulation and viewing results
  • Modelling plant operating procedures: PROCESS and TASK entities
  • Linking an Excel spreadsheet as an alternative input and output interface.

The course assumes a basic understanding of process unit operations and simple computer skills.
