gPROMS for simulation and modeling of crystallization processes
Software tools and services for optimal design and operation
"PSE's gPROMS environment and expert ModelCare consulting support have allowed us to develop a state-of-the-art model for a complex crystallisation process with minimum time and effort"

The application map on the left shows the areas where gPROMS and Model-Based Innovation techniques are being applied to solution crystallisation.
Product names are typical applications.
Design and operation of crystallisation processes throws up many challenges, particularly in scale-up and operational changes. Only limited simulation and modelling capabilities have been available until recently, in particular with respect to validation against experimental data.
Advanced Process Modelling addresses these challenges and brings many significant benefits in different application areas of crystallisation process design and operation.
PSE offers a range of software, models and services to companies wishing to optimise crystallisation process design and operation.
We also provide a well-proven and highly cost-effective project methodology for addressing crystallisation-related engineering and business challenges.
Application areas
Over the last five years, PSE's tools and services have been applied to crystallisation processes in a wide range of sectors. Click on the graphic for more information.
PSE provides...
PSE provides a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art tools and expert services for solution crystallisation, and can address applications in precipitation and melt crystallisation on a case-by-case basis.
Tools:
- gPROMS Advanced Process Modelling (APM) environment, a sophisticated tool for multi-scale modelling of complex processes and phenomena
- A comprehensive set of tools for model validation, including parameter estimation and experiment design capabilities, that allows the maximum amount of information to be extracted from experimental data (laboratory or plant scale)
- The Advanced Model Library for Solution Crystallisation (AML:SC), technology-leading models that represent many years' accumulated modelling expertise
- The Hybrid gPROMS–CFD Multizonal interface for linking CFD and APM models.
Services:
- ModelCare model configuration, validation and execution services, for rapid project execution and transfer of know-how to customer personnel
- Expert Consulting services, to analyse and formulate modelling requirements, execute model-based analyses, interpret results and advise on action – for example, appropriate experiments and measurement techniques
- Model-Based Innovation services, to help integrate R&D effort with engineering design and operational improvement.
We also provide a well-proven and cost-effective project methodology for modelling crystallisation processes.
