
gPROMS® in Control & Automation
p>gPROMS is widely known as an Advanced Process Modelling environment. Less well-known is the fact that — as a mathematical modelling and solution engine — it can be used in many areas of control design and validation, either stand-alone or in conjunction with industry standard software such as The Mathworks' MATLAB® and Simulink®.gPROMS also bring powerful equation-based solution capabilities to automation applications. Models built for design purposes can easily be incorporated within online or near-online activities such as:
- Model-based Predictive Control (MPC)
- Real-Time Optimisation (RTO)
- Real-Time Process Monitoring
- Equipment Health Monitoring (EHM)
- Operating Training Simulation (OTS)
Because of the power and speed of gPROMS' equation-based solution techniques, it is possible to construct online models of far higher fidelity than those used in the past.
PSE has worked extensively with Honeywell and other partners to bring similar power to operator training applications. New capabilities include the ability to develop high-fidelity models of complex units within a rapid development timeframe.
