Seminar 1: Reaction system modelling
Because of its versatility and solution power, gPROMS is considered to be the world's leading reaction modelling environment.
The reaction systems modelling seminar takes an in-depth look at current modelling approaches and recent developments in the area.
The seminar will comprise:
- an in-depth presentation on the state-of-the-art in reaction systems modelling, including sessions on:
- fixed-bed gas-phase reactors
- fixed-bed reactors in other systems (e.g. Fisher-Tropsch reactors)
- handling particulate systems in reactors
- reactors under laminar flow (e.g. monolith reactors)
- a round-table discussion on generic challenges in the design and reaction systems, aimed at determining approaches and solutions to these.
- illustration of points raised during the discussion via demos and actual examples.
The seminar will be hosted by Zbigniew Urban, PSE Chief Technology Officer, and Alejandro Cano, Lead Consultant. It is aimed at modelling practitioners and those interested in applying modelling techniques within their organisation.
Seminar 2: Crystallisation process modelling
The crystallisation process modelling seminar takes an in-depth look at recent developments in the area. The seminar will comprise:
- an in-depth presentation on the state-of-the-art in crystallisation process modelling, including:
- use of population balances and detailed kinetics modelling
- model-based data analysis techniques to help you make the most of experimental data, guide your experimental programmes and integrate experimentation and process design.
- new techniques for modelling of agglomeration, precipitation and formation of multiple solids (e.g. polymorphs)
- examples from both batch and continuous processes from food, pharmaceuticals and mining sectors.
- a round-table discussion on generic challenges in the design and operation of crystallisation processes, aimed at determining approaches and solutions to these.
- illustration of points raised during the discussion via demos and actual examples.
The seminar will be hosted by Sean Bermingham, PSE Technology Leader for crystallisation R&D and application. It is aimed at modelling practitioners and those interested in applying modelling techniques within their organisation.
