OPTIONAL SPECIALIST SEMINARS

Note that this agenda is subject to change. Descriptions of presentation content will be provided shortly.

Wednesday 15 September 2010

Optional specialist seminars & workshops
09:30 Start
Seminar 1: gPROMS Solids (click for detail)
Integrated model-based engineering of solids processes

gPROMS Solids, a new product developed by PSE in conjunction with Procter & Gamble, represents a step-change in the tools available for solids process design and operation.

This seminar, which includes hands-on sessions, illustrates how gPROMS Solids' integrated model-based engineering capabilities can address many of the challenges facing designers and operators of solids processes, to help achieve significant CAPEX and OPEX savings.

It includes topics such as:

  • The challenges of designing solids processes and how these are addressed
  • Fitting model parameters from experimental data
  • Determining optimal recycle size
  • Sizing of surge bins
  • In general, increasing plant throughput
See the agenda for more details.
12:30-13:30 Lunch (for morning & afternoon events)
Seminar 2: gPROMS Crystallisation (click for detail)
Model-based optimisation of crystallisation process product quality and production capacity

Crystallisers are complex units whose design and operation benefits significantly from the application of model-based engineering techniques.

Model-based engineering can be used to fast track development from laboratory data to full-scale industrial plant, to optimise key aspects of design and operation, or to troubleshoot poor performance.

This seminar, which includes hands-on sessions, describes the application of gPROMS Crystallisation to fundamental crystallisation challenges, including:

  • Fitting of experimental data using high-fidelity crystallisation models
  • Accurate characterisation of growth kinetics and other parameters
  • Model-based scale-up
  • Optimising cooling curves to minimise batch time.
See the agenda for more details.
