We are pleased to announce the sixth PSE Japan gPROMS User Meeting, to be held at the Yokohama Creative City Centre on 30 September and 1 October 2010.

The gPROMS User Meeting is where process industry business and technology managers and modelling personnel gather to exchange experience and know-how in the application of high-fidelity predictive modelling to enhancement of industrial process design and operations.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The event is a must for anyone with an interest in the application of state-of-the-art model-based engineering techniques to:

process optimization accelerate process and product innovation
process optimization improve process and equipment designs
process optimization optimise operations
process optimization quantify and manage technology risk
process optimization integrate information flow between the R&D and Engineering functions in the organisation.

The meeting is open to users AND prospective users of PSE's gPROMS advanced process modelling software and ModelCare consulting service, including academic researchers. There is no charge for attendance.

PROGRAMME

We have the following provisional agenda:

Thursday 30 September – Day 1

process optimization A keynote speech by Dr Yu Morimoto, Manager of the Toyota Central R&D Fuel Cell System Lab describing how Toyota is using modelling to accelerate fuel cell development.
process optimization A case study on whole-plant design optimisation for a new petrochemical process that resulted in the elimination of two distillation columns.
process optimization A summary of materials presented by companies such as Procter & Gamble, Shell, Total, Süd-Chemie, PURAC and Sulzer ChemTech at the PSE gPROMS London Annual Meeting held two weeks earlier.
process optimization The integration of a gPROMS Fischer-Tropsch gas-to-liquids (GTL) slurry-bed reactor into the PRO/II flowsheeting package via CAPE-OPEN.
process optimization gPROMS workshops on new model initalisation capabilities and gPROMS v3.3 flowsheeting, aimed at enhancing customer productivity.

Friday 1 October – Day 2

process optimization An update on PSE's new gPROMS v3.3 modelling platform.
process optimization Update on PSE's product development strategy for reaction, separation and engineering solutions such as gFLARE, gSOLIDS, gCRYSTALand gPROMS Fuel Cell.
process optimization Specialist seminars in PSE's engineering solutions covering exciting new and recent developments in model-based engineering and optimisation:
  • gFLARE: State-of-the-art depressurisation and dynamic flare system modelling, showing how PSE's new gFLARE and depressurisation technologies can help significantly reduce capital costs while improving safety.
  • gSOLIDS: Integrated model-based engineering of industrial solids processes showing how gSOLIDS – developed in conjunction with Procter & Gamble – and the new gCRYSTAL can help achieve significant CAPEX and OPEX savings [including hands-on].
  • gPROMS Fuel Cell: High-fidelity predictive modelling of PEMFC and SOFC stack and system to optimise design and operations, showing how 'to-market' issues such as de-activation and water management can be addressed [including hands-on].

We hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you there!
