gPROMS Annual Meeting 2008

Sheraton Suites on the Hudson, New Jersey

October 1–3, 2008

Polymer batch optimisation

"We reduced our polymer batch time by 30%"
– European polymer manufacturer

The PSE Americas gPROMS Annual Meeting 2008 will be held at the Sheraton Suites on the Hudson in New Jersey from October 1–3, 2008.

We warmly invite customers of PSE's gPROMS and ModelCare, as well as senior managers and engineers from other companies interested in learning more about advanced process modeling.

The program will include the US launch of gPROMS v3.1, a milestone release that provides a platform for modeling investment through the next decade, as well as PSE and user presentations and specialist modeling seminars.

Special focus

In addition to a focus on fuel cell modeling, the meeting will include a special focus on modeling for the pharma, bio, fine chemicals and FMCG sectors. This will include:

industry expert Paul Mort of Procter & Gamble describing the challenges, his vision and recent advances in modeling of agglomeration, drying and other solids processes

New to advanced process modeling?

This is your chance to learn more about the subject in an informal environment and hear how your peers in various sectors are applying state-of-the-art techniques to:

accelerate process and product innovation
improve process equipment designs
optimize operations
improve the effectiveness of R&D experimentation
quantify and manage innovation risk
integrate R&D and Engineering

Hear about the latest applications in optimization of design and operations for:

reactors
solids handling processes
crystallizers
fuel cells
other complex application areas.
a 45-minute panel discussion on modeling for solids handling and processing techniques, with the aim of establishing a pre-competitive working group to accelerate development of modeling technology
a presentation on how advanced process modeling saved 44% of crystallisation batch time for pharmaceutical-grade lactose
the combined chemistry and hydrodynamic modeling of gas-liquid reactors to minimize impurities and maximize product quality
how recent advances in modeling bring a step-change to the accuracy of information available for biotechnology processes such as fermentation.

Why should you attend?

The meeting will provide an intensive view of the state-of-the-art in advanced process modeling. For anyone interested in the application of modeling to create value, there are many reasons to attend:

hear about developments such as SAFT, the technology that is revolutionizing physical property modeling – particularly for materials such as polymers and electrolytes
have the opportunity to see how companies such as SQM - the world's largest suppliers of lithium and iodine - and Procter & Gamble are applying advanced process modeling to very different processes
gain fundamental insights into first principles modeling of key areas such as reaction at the specialist seminars
be able to network with your modeling peers in informal surroundings
meet PSE senior management and technical personnel and have the chance to discuss areas of interest or concerns face-to-face
last but not least enjoy a night out on Broadway courtesy of PSE!

Please take a look at the agenda, and do encourage your colleagues to come along too. We look forward to seeing you there!
