Determining the HOSTID

To determine the HOSTID follow these steps:

Download an appropriate version of the FLEXlm utility for the machine that you wish to use as a license server:

IBM-PC Compatible (Windows XP/2000/Vista)

lmtools-11.6.1-i86_n3.zip

IBM-PC Compatible (Linux 32-bit & 64-bit)

lmutil-11.6.1-i86_re3.gz

NB. Some web-browsers may change the file extension when they download, if this happens you may need to change it back before the file can be uncompressed.

Extract the FLEXlm utility - lmtools.exe (Windows) or lmutil (Linux) executable into a temporary directory:

Windows

Use the Windows file explorer to open the zip archive and make a copy of lmtools.exe

Linux

Run the command:

gunzip lmutil-11.6.1-i86_re3.gz

Execute the FLEXlm utility on the machine that you wish to to use as a licence server:

Windows

Run lmtools.exe - this should display the LMTOOLS user interface

Navigate to the "System Settings" tab

Click the button labelled "Save HOSTID Info to a File"

Email the file that is created to PSE

Linux

Run the command:

lmutil lmhostid

A message like the following should be displayed:

The FLEXnet host ID of this machine is "xxxxxxxxxxxx"

Email the displayed HOSTID to PSE.
