PSE Model-Based Innovation Prize
The winning team
We congratulate the winners of the 2008 PSE Model-Based Innovation Prize. They are:
Asst. Prof. S. Mostafa Nowee, School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, University of Sydney, Australia
S. Mostafa Nowee
S. Mostafa Nowee received his Bachelor (Chemical Engineering) from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, I.R. Iran, his Masters (Chemical Engineering) from Sharif University of Technology, I.R Iran and PhD (Chemical Engineering) from The University of Sydney, Australia.
He is currently assistant professor at Ferdowsi University and deputy director of Energy saving research centre at the same university. His research interests are in modelling and optimal control of particulate processes and energy conservation and saving.
Dr Ali Abbas, School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, University of Sydney, Australia
Ali Abbas
Ali Abbas received both his B.E. (Chem) and PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Sydney, Australia. He is currently a senior lecturer at the University of Sydney and Director of the Laboratory for Multiscale Systems.
Ali held previous appointments as assistant professor of Chemical Engineering at Nanyang Technological University and University of New South Wales Asia, Singapore. He has strong interests in teaching and learning research as well as research in modelling and control of particulate processes. His engineering research is in the area of Process Systems Engineering.
Prof. Jose Romagnoli,
Jose Romagnoli
Jose Romagnoli received his Bachelor (Chemical Engineering) from the Universidad Nacional del Sur, Argentina and PhD (Chemical Engineering) from the University of Minnesota, USA. He currently holds the Gordon A. and Mary Cain Endowed Chair at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Louisiana State University, USA.
He is also the M. Gautreaux/Ethyl Chair Professor at the same university and Director of the Process Systems Engineering Laboratory. He was awarded the Centenary Medal of Australia by the Prime Minister of Australia for contributions to the field of Chemical Engineering (2003).
He is a fellow at the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering for contributions to the field of Process Systems Engineering (1999). He is Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia (1996) and the author of two books and has numerous writings and publications.
